1973. Our inaugural year… Village Builders was founded by Friendswood Development Co., after a study indicated the logical next step was for the developer to branch out into home building. Later that year, Village Builders closed its first home in Clear Lake City’s Brook Forest. A few years later, VB developed a custom product for the Kingwood area – a move that put VB on the map.
1977. Then, there was volume… Village Builders joined forces with other builders to introduce volume building in Kingwood’s Elm Grove village. Previously, Kingwood had been a custom-home community. Shortly after our Kingwood debut, we introduced our patio homes, the "Island Series," which ultimately would become the ever-popular Courtyard Classic Collection, featuring abundant storage, low-maintenance brick exteriors and secure side yards with brick courtyard walls and wrought-iron gates.
1986. Classic designs… After extensive market research, we designed the initial installment of our timeless "Classic Collection" -- a step toward the West University architecture of all-brick exteriors and great attention to detail. This collection also marked a look and quality that would be unmistakably VB.
1990's. Great expansions… In the early 1990’s, Village Builders began an expansion that would be unmatched. In a four-year period, VB joined the Greatwood and Cinco Ranch building teams, followed by those of New Territory, Parkway Villages and Copper Lakes, as well as Longwood, Lakes on Eldridge and South Shore Harbour.
1995. Winning moves… In 1994, Village Builders was awarded the National Housing Quality Award from the National Association of Home Builders and Professional Builder magazine. In 1995, we won our ninth Best in American Living Award in four years -- gaining us national recognition. Also in 1995, Exxon – the parent company for Friendswood Development Co. -- sold Village Builders to the Lennar Corp., and VB has been making winning moves ever since!
1996. Closings closer to home… We consolidated our closing efforts to one title company – Regency Title. This move improved the service our buyers received, making closings much easier for everyone involved in the transaction. In addition, we reduced our approved lender list, which also improved efficiency and service.
